Job Summary
Job Title : Operations Kitchen Specialist
Reports To : Director of Operations
Job Goal : To assist in maintaining District facilities and structures by providing excellent specialized maintenance services
Minimum Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years' experience in the designated trade / skill area or a combination of training / experience
- Experience in school facility maintenance preferred
- Possess and maintain appropriate State or National card, certification, or licensure for the assigned trade or skill area as appropriate
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Meet Hoover City Schools insurable driver requirements
- Demonstrated skills using standard tools, materials, methods, and practices of the assigned trade or skill area
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the specific trades
- Ability to read, interpret and / or follow plans, directions, and specifications
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project completion
- Ability to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders, and heights
- Ability to engage in prolonged sitting or standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching
- Strength and agility to lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to exert up to seventy-five (75) pounds of force
- Ability to work in locations involving heights or confined spaces
- Ability and willingness to work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy, crowded environments, in various temperatures, and weather conditions
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays if necessary
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance
- Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Such Alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal and local law and the Board may require
Duties and Responsibilities :
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and prioritiesConstructs, maintains, services, inspects, and / or repairs District structures as assignedMaintains and repairs items or systems in assigned skill or trade area; performs inspections, diagnoses problems, and executes services as neededEstimates materials and resources necessary for completion of jobsCompletes work order assignments in a timely manner without close supervision; completes all projects in compliance with trade standardsPrioritizes tasks and uses time wiselyUses problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and effective interpersonal skills to supervise other designated maintenance personnel when assignedEngages in work-related training to increase knowledge and skills as directed and / or for advancementMaintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school / workplace mattersDemonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and / or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibilityReports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnelResponds to inquiries, requests, and constructive feedback in a timely and positive mannerMaintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate mannerProperly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school systemReports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and proceduresAdheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local lawsPerforms other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
