Business Development Specialist

Job Status : Full Time

FLSA Status : Non - Exempt

Reports To : Marketing / Sales Manager

Grade / Level : Mid-Level

Amount of Travel Required : Daily

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday 7 : 00am - 5 : 00pm

Positions Supervised : None

Present and sell products and services to organizations, businesses and government agencies. Contact buyers, discuss pricing and answer questions.

Essential Functions Statements

  • Expected to grow territory sales revenue 10% or more year over year.
  • Serve customers by selling products and meeting customer needs.
  • Contact new and existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
  • Emphasize product features based on analysis of customers' needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
  • Adjust content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet and trade factors.
  • Focus sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.
  • Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and result reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analysis.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules and merchandising techniques.
  • Recommend changes in products, services and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participate in professional societies.
  • Complete expense reports, sales reports and other paperwork.
  • Obtain building blueprint and specifications for use by engineering departments in bid preparations.
  • Coordinate customer returns and complete proper documentation on a timely basis.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies and marketing information.
  • Develop an effective and productive working relationship with sales team members and support personnel.
  • Attend sales and trade meetings; read related publications to obtain information about market conditions, business trade, environmental regulations and industry developments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
