Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE : The Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) at Promega is a multidisciplinary R&D team, united by the goal of creating innovative technologies for the study of molecular interactions, gene editing, protein biochemistry and cellular health. As an intern with ATG you will serve as a valued member of our team, working collaboratively and creatively to develop novel, cutting-edge gene editing technologies. You will gain experience in CRISPR-based gene editing, rational and AI-guided protein redesign, mammalian cell culturing and computational data analysis. You will read foundational and current scientific literature in order to contribute creative, original ideas to advance your project. The summer internship will conclude with an internship showcase where you will have the opportunity to present the results of your work to the larger Promega community.
CORE DUTIES :
1. Design and execute experiments to explore and optimize genome editing techniques, incorporating AI or machine learning to enhance data analysis or experimental design when applicable.
2. Record experimental results clearly and accurately, and present findings through written reports and oral updates to a cross-functional team.
3. Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and collaborative problem-solving efforts that support group research goals
4. Demonstrates inclusion through their own words and actions and is accountable for a safe workspace. Acts with kindness, curiosity and respect for others.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate (preferably entering junior or senior year) or graduate program in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
2. A strong analytical mindset and a passion for scientific innovation and discovery.
3. Work effectively in a collaborative environment with enthusiasm for learning from others.
4. Familiarity using AI or machine learning to streamline workflows and enhance experimental design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Prior laboratory experience in a biology related field.
2. Familiarity with protein biochemistry (ex : amino acid structures and properties, enzymology principles).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
1. Ability to remain stationary at a lab bench or fume hood for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, lab coat, safety glasses) as required.
3. Ability to use a computer and data analysis software.
