We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Cable Technician with expertise in managed Wi-Fi , Fiber to the Unit (FTTU) , and in-building network installations and Supervising a Team . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in deploying and maintaining structured cabling and network infrastructure in multi-unit buildings, commercial spaces, and mixed-use properties. This role requires a deep understanding of low-voltage systems and the ability to deliver high-quality, reliable connectivity solutions.
Key Responsibilities : Installation and Configuration :
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including fiber optics , Cat5e / Cat6 , and coaxial cables, for managed Wi-Fi and in-building networks.
- Deploy and configure equipment such as access points, switches, routers, ONTs, and patch panels.
- Establish fiber optic links, including splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Build and maintain cable pathways using conduits, raceways, and cable trays in compliance with safety and building codes.
Testing and Troubleshooting :
Test and certify installed cabling to meet performance standards using appropriate tools (e.g., OTDRs, cable certifiers).Troubleshoot issues in managed Wi-Fi systems, fiber networks, and Ethernet connections.Identify and resolve network performance issues to ensure reliable connectivity.Project Execution :
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and property stakeholders to plan and execute network installations.Interpret blueprints, schematics, and floor plans to determine optimal installation routes and strategies.Document work performed, including as-built drawings, test results, and inventory logs.Maintenance and Upgrades :
Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to in-building networks to ensure optimal performance.Replace or repair damaged components, including cables, connectors, and hardware.Qualifications : Experience and Skills :
Proven experience in low-voltage cable installation, including fiber optics and Ethernet cabling.Hands-on experience with managed Wi-Fi solutions (e.g., enterprise-grade access points, controllers).Proficiency in Fiber to the Unit (FTTU) installation and maintenance.Knowledge of networking hardware and protocols, including VLANs, PoE, and IP networking.Familiarity with in-building network technologies, including distributed antenna systems (DAS) and structured cabling systems.Certifications (Preferred) :
BICSI Installer / Technician, RCDD, or other relevant certifications.Fiber optic certifications (e.g., FOA, Corning, or Fluke).OSHA 10 / 30 Certification or equivalent safety training.Physical and Technical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.Experience using testing tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and cable certifiers.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Competencies :
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Effective communication and collaboration with teams and clients.Commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards.Hourly rate total comp package is based on OT hours.
Work Environment : This role involves working in residential and commercial properties, including multi-unit buildings, data centers, and construction sites. Travel to various project sites may be required.
