Responsibilities
This role serves the entire Community Health System as part of a team of over 30 people made up of coders, clerical support and educators. This team works together to meet and exceed common goals. In this remote position, you will assign ICD-10-CM / PCS and CPT-4 codes for statistical and reimbursement requirements to inpatient and / or outpatient accounts. We use the most current and up-to-date technology and software, meaning you will have the constant opportunity to grow and learn in your role!
Review charts thoroughly to ascertain all diagnosis and procedures.Code all diagnoses and procedures in accordance to ICD-10-CM / PCS and CPT-4 coding practices, rules and guidelines for all inpatient services, observation and ambulatory accounts.Maintains 99% rate of information correctly abstracted. Completes abstract competency annually.Maintain the knowledge base necessary for current coding practices and remain up to date with the following manuals : Administration, Health Information Management Services, Emergency Management and Safety.Whether working independently or alongside teammates, you'll contribute to a standard of excellence that defines the Community experience from day one!
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate requiredCompletion of courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology required5 years of recent inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting requiredProficient in ICD-10-CM / PCS and CPT-4 coding, DRG and APRDRG assignment requiredLicenses and Certifications
CCS – Certified Coding Specialist requiredFull Remote
