Overview

Join to apply for the Technical Project Lead role at Knexus . We are looking for an experienced and driven Technical Project Lead with 8+ years of experience to join our AI applications team. This is a fully remote position for candidates in the continental U.S., with work hours aligned to the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone. You will be instrumental in the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to final delivery, creating AI-powered software products that aid military commanders and business leaders in making mission-critical decisions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional algorithmic and problem-solving skills, and a strong background in software engineering, enabling them to make an immediate impact on our projects. We are committed to providing you with the necessary tools and training to produce world-class software.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Project Leadership : be the technical lead for 1-2 projects, help design, architect and develop the codebase. Lead and mentor junior and mid-level developers, providing technical guidance and ensuring project goals are met.
  • Customer Management : act as a key technical point of contact for clients, translating customer requirements into technical specifications and ensuring the delivered solutions align with their mission needs. This is not a project manager role but requires a strong customer-facing presence.
  • Project Owner : manage the project\'s agile development cycle, including creating, tracking and managing issues, reviewing merge requests and day-to-day oversight of the development team. Report progress, potential issues, and roadblocks candidly to the program owner.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience : 8+ years of experience in software development, including design, coding, testing, and delivery.
  • Core Skills : mastery in object-oriented design and programming, knowledge of design patterns and algorithmic analysis.
  • Programming Languages : proficiency in Python is required; experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or C++ is useful but not critical.
  • Work Environment : experience working in a small, remote team environment is preferred.
  • Government Clearance : must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. government security clearance (Secret). A conditional offer is required before starting the clearance process.

    • Bonus Experience

  • AI / ML : exposure to AI and / or Machine Learning technologies is a plus.
  • GenAI : experience building applications leveraging LLMs as a core component.
  • Specialized Knowledge : experience with discrete event simulation, geospatial and / or temporal databases, and performing scientific evaluations and comparisons.
  • Google Cloud Platform : experience using and deploying technologies onto GCP; familiarity with Vertex AI.
  • Technical Familiarity : familiarity with Docker, Node, REST APIs; experience with Firebase and PostgreSQL.
