Financial Aid Specialist

Provide comprehensive services and support to students and families in managing their university finances. Engage in activities that enhance recruitment, retention, and success of the student body. Administer financial aid and student receivables programs in compliance with applicable federal, state, and institutional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Assist in the research and review of regulations, policies, and process assessments.

Job Duties / Responsibilities :

• Use independent decision making when evaluating student need for exceptional circumstances, gather appropriate supporting documentation, and submit for review.
• Use federal regulatory professional judgment to revise dependency status on application.
• Complete student receivables activities such as late payment fee and financial hold assessment.
• Assist students and families struggling financially to explore resolution options and to support their continued enrollment, mitigating risk of becoming a collection account.
• Review, research, and post incoming payments.
• Research solutions for complex situations to support student enrollment and retention.
• Review application data elements to establish eligibility for federal and institutional aid.
