Gastroenterology Clinic Assistant

Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider).

Perform select clinical duties, interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts.

Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients, perform basic clerical duties, and manage basic materials.

Maintain a clean and orderly environment, document provider's encounter with patients, list diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.

Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.

Licensure / certification / registration : BLS Provider obtained within 1 month required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. One or more of the following required :

• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 months.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 months.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing obtained within 6 months.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants obtained within 6 months.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists obtained within 6 months.

Education : High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Prefers candidates with an active CMA certification.
