The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for design, deployment, and optimization of core systems and processes, including but not limited to; Monitoring, Patching, Knowledge Base Administration, Logging, Change Management and special projects. The Senior Platform Engineer will also participate in projects as a lead engineer and automation resource, building simple OutSystems applications and leveraging Python and PowerShell to simplify repeatable tasks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor Slack chats and provide updates and solutions for Internal Infrastructure Projects Team (IIP)
- Day to day maintenance and upkeep on core tooling systems
- Resolve tickets in the IIP Epicor / DBOSS queue
- Document current and new environments in Visio
- Assist with consolidation efforts
- Create knowledge base documents as requested by Platform Engineers and support
- Create and submit requests for change (RFC's) and present to change advisory board (CAB) for approval
- Complete approved change controls
- Own and resolve escalations from Platform team engineers for services
- Provide reporting from various systems
- Help create and maintain team standards, policies, and procedures
- Perform risk management to minimize systems risks and unintended outages
- Manage complex projects and initiatives
- Scope out specific work tasks and work with management and project coordinator to ensure on-time task completion
- Provide regular updates to management regarding status of systems and projects
- Establish reporting baselines that can be communicated to the business around system health and tracking improvements
- Anticipate the needs of the business and proactively update management on opportunities to optimize systems
- Measure performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Ability to work with unique personalities in fast paced mission critical company environment
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Other duties as assigned
