Job Title : Mechanical R&D Engineer

Position Summary :
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Mechanical R&D Engineer to join our Research & Development team in California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical systems and components for next-generation products. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and hands-on engineering experience to transform conceptual ideas into functional, manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure robust and cost-effective designs.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation (using SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA).
- Perform design analyses including tolerance stack-ups, stress / strain simulations (FEA), and thermal analysis.
- Build and test prototypes; analyse performance data and refine designs based on results.
- Research and evaluate new materials, manufacturing technologies, and design methodologies to support innovation.
- Ensure compliance with California and federal safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in design efficiency, product quality, and process optimization.
- Prepare and present technical documentation, design reports, and test results to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).4 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design, product development, or R&D (preferably in manufacturing, automotive, medical devices, or consumer products).Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.Working knowledge of GD&T, FEA, DFMEA, and root cause analysis methods.Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication, testing, and validation.Strong understanding of materials, machining, moulding, casting, and additive manufacturing processes.Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment.Preferred Skills :
Experience with sustainability-focused design or energy-efficient systems.Familiarity with ISO 9001, ASME, or FDA (for regulated industries) standards.Exposure to project management tools (JIRA, Asana, or MS Project).Working knowledge of PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter).
