Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) delivers exceptional, patient-focused care using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role entails coordinating and delivering top-tier care rooted in established protocols and provider orders, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Providing high-quality, patient-centered care following organizational policies and nursing standards.Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, documenting findings accurately, and communicating changes in condition to the care team.Applying knowledge of human development to deliver age-appropriate care and education.Administering medications, monitoring side effects, and documenting care in compliance with standards.Assisting physicians during procedures, ensuring all actions are within scope of competency.Collaborating with the healthcare team to create, execute, and review tailored care plans.Responding to medical emergencies and partaking in life-saving responses as necessary.Advocating for patient rights, ensuring their needs are reflected in care decisions.Educating patients and families on medical issues, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.Maintaining infection control protocols to mitigate healthcare-associated infections.Proficiently monitoring and operating medical equipment vital for patient safety and care.Ensuring a safe and clean environment, adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.Participating in compliance checks and audits to uphold practice standards.Demonstrating sound decision-making in planning and delivering care.Meticulously documenting patient care and education in medical records.Engaging in professional development to remain proficient in clinical practices.Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.For NICU Registered Nurses :Regularly assessing vital signs and indicators of distress.Administering medications and treatments, including respiratory support.Managing feeding needs through various methods to ensure proper nutrition.Performing essential care tasks such as diaper changes and positioning.Conducting procedures like IV line insertions and assisting with intubations.Carrying out additional duties as assigned.Adhering to all company policies and protocols.Qualifications
0-2 years of clinical nursing experience or completion of student clinical rotations in an acute setting.Skills and Competencies
Strong grasp of the nursing process and evidence-based practices.Ability to perform thorough assessments and effectively communicate findings.Skilled in medication administration with awareness of potential side effects.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for teamwork.Organizational skills and attention to detail in patient documentation.Understanding of infection control and safety protocols.Licenses and Certifications
