NICU RN Job Details Location : Odessa, TX 79761 (West Texas nursing jobs) Healthcare Setting : Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Employment Type : Travel Nurse Contract Start Date : November 18, 2025 End Date : February 17, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour day shifts (07 : 00 - 19 : 00) Hours per Week : 36 Patient Ratio : 1 : 3 Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1,780 - $1,910 NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience (Level III NICU preferred) Prior travel nursing experience required Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state) Certifications : BLS, NRP, PALS, STABLE (current and valid) Experience with Cerner charting preferred Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions and declinations considered) Previous charge nurse experience preferred On-site work required; remote not available Local candidates within 50 miles not eligible NICU RN Responsibilities Deliver specialized nursing care to high-risk neonates in a Level III NICU setting Administer blood products, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, and antivirals Perform APGAR scoring, manage arterial lines, and assist with lumbar punctures Attend high-risk deliveries and support breastfeeding and breast milk handling Operate bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, high frequency ventilation, and oxygen delivery systems Monitor blood glucose, administer insulin, and manage chest tubes Care for neonates with meconium aspiration, NEC, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and sepsis Perform neonatal dosage calculations and provide developmental care Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines, and perform phlebotomy Utilize therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), phototherapy, and ventilator management (AC / PC / SIMV / CPAP / BIPAP / PEEP) Educate and support patients and families throughout the NICU experience Apply now to join our Odessa, TX healthcare team as a NICU Registered Nurse and make a difference in neonatal care!
