Auditor-Appraiser I Opportunity
This is a great and exciting entry-level opportunity in County of Santa Barbara's Clerk-Recorder-Assessor and Elections Office within the Assessor's division. We are seeking motivated individuals who have strong problem-solving abilities to fill two Auditor-Appraiser I vacancies in the Santa Barbara office. The position requires being fully onsite Monday-Friday.
The Position : The Auditor-Appraiser I is an entry-level position that offers growth and career advancement opportunities. Under general supervision, the Auditor-Appraiser I participates in and performs audits and appraisals of business and personal property, and fixtures for tax assessment purposes and performs related duties as required. Please note, working for the Assessor's Office does not fulfill CPA training hour requirements.
Candidates are hired at the Auditor Appraiser I level and can progress to the Auditor Appraiser II level upon completing the required training, meeting the qualifications, and satisfactory performance, which typically takes about one year.

Additional Qualifications : Possession of a valid permanent appraiser certificate, with an Auditor designation, issued by the State of California within twelve months of employment.
For specific positions, possession and maintenance of a valid California Driver's License and the ability to meet automobile insurability requirements of the County or the ability to provide suitable transportation needs may be required.
Knowledge of : general accounting and auditing principles, practices, and methods; accounting systems used in industrial and commercial corporations, partnerships, and individual proprietorships; automated accounting system concepts and audit control; computer spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications.
Ability to : make accurate computations; write accurate and concise reports; understand and explain legal and policy requirements; interpret business records on finance, merchandise, and equipment; follow through on assignments timely; organize assigned workload; use and develop applications in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; communicate verbally to explain rules and regulations to others; prepare and give public presentations before decision-making bodies; establish effective working relationships; work in a team environment with commitment to quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
