Job Summary :
- The Athletics Coordinator is a part-time position that operates under the direct supervision of one or more Recreation Supervisors.
- This role is primarily responsible for supporting the planning and execution of the Park District’s in-house soccer, flag football, and basketball programs.
- Duties may include a wide range of tasks such as staff recruitment and training, program supervision, team roster creation, practice scheduling, program and player evaluations, and registration management.
- Additionally, some front office support hours may be assigned as needed.
Pay Range :
$18-20 per hour, depending on experience. Hours : The number of hours worked per month varies as the workload changes.An average number of hours that will be worked in a month is 20. Essential Functions :
1. Assist in the coordination and execution of in-house athletic leagues and programs. 2. Support the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of seasonal coaches and staff. 3. Create team rosters and coordinate game and practice schedules. 4. Communicate regularly with parents, coaches, and officials. 5. Assist in evaluating programs and players to recommend improvements or changes. 6. Maintain accurate registration records and program documentation. 7. Support front office operations as needed, including customer service and registration support. 8. Perform other duties as assigned.Marginal Functions :
1. Complete special projects as assigned by Recreation Supervisor. 2. Assist co-workers in the Park District facility as necessary. 3. Make recommendations and work to ensure that the Park District is in compliance with all ADA guidelines for registration, programs and facilities.Education and Experience :
1. High school diploma required. 2. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in youth sports, recreation, or a related field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : 1. Knowledge of youth sports rules, practices, and program structure (soccer, flag football, basketball). 2. Ability to plan, organize, and execute athletic programs effectively. 3. Strong leadership and communication skills with both youth and adults. 4. Ability to resolve conflicts calmly and professionally. 5. Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and recreation software. 6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 7. Work closely with co-workers and patrons. 8. Ability to recognize and take appropriate action to correct safety hazards. 9. Must have ability to read, write and organize materials. 10. Attain (within six (6) months of employment) and maintain valid Adult CPR / AED certification.Physical Demands / Work Environment :
The Athletics Coordinator may be required to work long hours at their desk. This will include work with computers.The staff may be asked to work outside at games and / or practices.May be required to work in various weather conditions.Early morning hours on game days may be required.This job description is intended to describe the general content of and requirement for the performance of this position.
