Sarasota County Government Bus Cleaner

Sarasota County Government is hiring for a bus cleaner position in Sarasota, FL. The salary is $13.00 per hour. This is a full-time position within the Area Transit department with a continuous closing date.

Job Responsibilities

This position involves routine service work which includes cleaning, washing, fueling, checking and topping off coolant / oil / power steering / transmission / windshield washer fluids, maintaining fuel and fluids usage records and driving buses. Probe farebox daily and dump farebox cash box.

Specific duties include :

• Cleaning the interior of buses including windows, seats, dash areas and driver's area around pedals, and sweeping and mopping floors.
• Cleaning the exterior of buses including wheels and tires as needed by hand or with the Automatic Bus Washer.
• Fueling transit buses / support vehicles, probing and removing GFI cash box.
• Checking fluid levels, such as coolant, engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid and diesel exhaust fluid.
• Installing public service messages inside buses.
• Recording mileage, vehicle number, fuel gallons and fluids on the fuel sheet matrix form.
• Driving buses around the yard and negotiating around the fuel islands.

Work Hours

Work hours are 40 hours per week from 4 : 30 p.m. to 1 : 00 a.m.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent and maintaining a Florida Drivers License. The position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
