Completion of a Pathologists' Assistant program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). ASCP certification as a Pathologists' Assistant. Prior experience working in a pathology laboratory setting. Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Job Description :
- Perform macroscopic examination, dissection, and description of surgical specimens under the supervision of a Pathologist.
- Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.
- Assist in autopsies by eviscerating the body, dissecting organs, and collecting samples for further analysis.
- Accurately document findings and maintain detailed records of procedures performed.
- Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials according to safety regulations.
- Ensure proper functioning of laboratory equipment and assist with maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Adhere to all relevant protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
