About the Role
A growing engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Compliance Engineer to ensure that electrical products meet UL certification requirements, with a particular emphasis on UL 2580 and related standards. This full-time position is based in Troy, Ohio, and offers a base salary of $100,000 or more, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in bringing new products to market and maintaining regulatory compliance for existing lines, working closely with global engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
- Ensure product compliance with UL, CE, FCC, and other applicable regulatory standards
- Conduct and oversee UL testing, audits, and documentation for certification
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- Evaluate testing results and provide technical recommendations for compliance
- Submit product documentation to certification bodies and manage the approval process
- Maintain compliance for existing certified products, ensuring ongoing regulatory adherence
- Monitor changes in industry regulations and implement required updates
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and testing laboratories
- Develop and maintain internal processes for regulatory compliance and safety standards
- Provide training and compliance guidance to internal engineering and product teams
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)Minimum of 5 years of experience in product compliance, testing, or regulatory engineeringIn-depth knowledge of UL standards, particularly UL 2580, and certification processesExperience with domestic and international standards, including CE, FCC, RoHS, and REACHProficiency in compliance testing methodologies and risk assessmentExcellent analytical, organizational, and technical documentation skillsStrong interpersonal and cross-functional communication abilitiesDesired Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Masters degree in a relevant fieldPrior experience coordinating with international engineering teamsBackground in battery systems, power electronics, or energy storage technologiesFamiliarity with IEC standards and global regulatory frameworksAbility to lead continuous improvement in compliance practices and internal audits
