About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Media Director to join our team and lead key client accounts. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in our Arlington office. As Media Director, you will define what smart, innovative media looks like for our clients. From emerging platforms to proven channels, you will chart a path that balances innovation with performance. This is a high-visibility role where your ideas and leadership will directly influence brand growth and open new opportunities for how we approach media in a fast-changing landscape.
Key Responsibilities
The Media Director for Ignited Government is responsible for overseeing the client interface with senior-level agency contacts, managing the media planning team, and ensuring the delivery of high-caliber marketing campaigns, predominantly on digital platforms. Experience and thorough understanding of national media on TV, radio, PSAs, print and out-of-home platforms is also required.
Client and Business Leadership
- Act as the primary media department liaison between Ignited Government and senior clients at government agencies
- Conduct high-level briefings and presentations to clients on campaign strategy, performance metrics, and results
- Foster strong, long-term client relationships and establish credibility as a trusted consultant
- Translate complex marketing and paid media principles and practices into plain language
- Keep current on marketing and paid media landscape; Facilitate knowledge sharing with colleagues and clients
Team Management
Directly oversee the work of Media Planners, Associate Media Planners and AnalystsMentor and develop team members to grow their skills and capabilitiesCoordinate with colleagues and internal departments to align strategies and resourcesMedia Planning and Execution
Provide strategic direction in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, primarily focused on digital platformsOversee the planning, negotiation, and buying of media across various channels, including TV, radio, digital, social and out-of-home platformsMonitor campaign performance and make data-driven adjustments to meet KPIsReporting and Analysis
Analyze business and marketing campaign dataPrepare detailed, comprehensive reports on campaign performance and ROIEnsure reports, analyses, and presentations are consistently accurate, error-free, and delivered to the highest professional standardsShare insights and learnings with internal stakeholders to continuously improve our offeringsNew Business
Lead or support new business efforts, including but not limited to :Conducting industry research, landscape assessments and competitive analysisWriting strategic and comprehensive proposals and technical approachesDelivering clear and concise internal and client presentations (pitches)Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferredMinimum 12 years of experience in marketing and advertising, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership roleExtensive experience with government clients and a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape strongly preferredProven track record of managing high-performance teamsAdvanced proficiency in digital marketing tools and platformsMust be able to work hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET, as well as after hours and occasional weekends as needed, regardless of locationHybrid role : Must work on-site 3 days / wk in Arlington, VAMust have the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government contractor employment suitability determination (i.e. personnel security clearance)Employees may be subject to random drug / alcohol screeningSpecial Knowledge and Skills
