Payroll Specialist - Bakersfield, CA

Salary : $27 - $32 per hour (DOE)

Our client, a well-established company in Bakersfield, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting compliance and employee service needs.

Responsibilities

Process multi-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees

Review and verify timecards, deductions, and adjustments for accuracy

Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and related matters

Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management

Support audits, year-end processing, and tax filings as needed

Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure seamless payroll operations

Qualifications

3+ years of payroll processing experience; multi-state experience a plus

Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour compliance, and payroll tax regulations

Proficiency with payroll software (ADP, Paycom, Paychex, or similar)

Advanced Excel skills preferred

Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills
