Traveling Project Manager – Structural Steel Erection
Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Project Manager to oversee large-scale structural steel erection projects across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing complex commercial steel erection jobs exceeding 5,000 tons or $5 million in value. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage all aspects of field operations, safety, scheduling, and cost control.
Responsibilities :
Manage all phases of structural steel erection projects from planning through closeout
Oversee project schedules, budgets, and field operations to ensure quality and performance standards are met
Coordinate with general contractors, engineers, fabricators, and field crews
Monitor job progress, resolve field issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements
Provide leadership and guidance to field teams and subcontractors
Prepare project reports, progress updates, and documentation for management review
Travel to job sites as required to support and oversee active projects
Qualifications :
Minimum 5 years of experience managing large structural steel erection projects
Experience leading projects exceeding 5,000 tons or $5 million preferred
Strong background in commercial steel erection, including higher education, stadiums / arenas, data centers, and warehouse / distribution facilities
Excellent understanding of steel erection means and methods, rigging, and sequencing
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to travel extensively to project locations
