Job Summary :

The Public Affairs Specialist builds and maintains strong connections between Nebraska Public Media and key stakeholders, including government officials, academic leaders, community partners, and the public. This position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and works closely with the General Manager and the Director of Communications & Engagement.

This role :

• Develops and manages communications between leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Leads board operations and engagement.
• Designs and implements public affairs and advocacy efforts, with emphasis on federal and state legislative outreach
• Advises leadership and promotes the station’s mission, values and achievements to elected officials and community leaders to strengthen its role as a trusted public service in Nebraska.
