The Part Time Writing Support Assistant provides writing support and tutoring to students and small groups in the Learning Resources department under the direct supervision of the Academic Support Writing Coach.
This is a temporary grant funded position through 06 / 30 / 2025 contingent upon grant / or funding extensions. What you will be doing
- Assists students in the use of writing support that includes face-to-face, software, and virtual support systems
- Monitors students progress in the development of their writing skills
- Attends all tutor trainings and required meetings
- Follows the approved record keeping process to track students, topics, courses, and hours spent in writing support
- Tutors students in courses related to their writing needs
- Serves as a role model to motivate students with their academic needs
- Assists with collection of data and preparation of reports as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and completion of one (1) specified college discipline courseRecord of completion and high achievement in both ENC1101 and ENC1102 coursesNo experience required; training provided as neededReferral from college faculty specifically involved in field of studyGPA greater than 3.3 averageKnowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies andAbility to demonstrate genuine motivation in dealing with peopleWorking knowledge in workforce programsAbility to communicate effectively both orally in writing with a diverse populationAbility to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staffAbility to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignmentsAdditional Requirements
