Med / Surg Tele RN Job Details Location : Potsdam, NY 13676 (Northern New York healthcare jobs) Assignment Length : 13 weeks (10 / 27 / 2025 – 1 / 26 / 2026) Healthcare Setting : Certified Stroke Center – Med / Surg Telemetry Unit Shift : 12-hour nights (18 : 45 – 07 : 15), 36 or 48 hours per week Estimated Weekly Salary : $1980 - $2030 Patient Ratios : 1 : 6 (nights) Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend Float : May float to West 2, West 3, and Observation units Orientation : 12 hours unit orientation, up to 5 hours of billable modules Registered Nurse Qualifications Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license (required for NY nursing jobs) Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg Telemetry RN experience Required certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Proficient in EPIC charting (clinical documentation system) Strong clinical skills in dysrhythmia interpretation / management, IV insulin protocols, port access, blood product administration, peripheral / PICC line care, starting IVs, heparin protocols, PCA, CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, chest tubes, CPAP / BIPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, wound care / vac, and isolation precautions Must reside more than 75 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted) First-time travel nurses welcome – great opportunity for new travelers! Med / Surg Tele RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with cardiac, respiratory, infectious, endocrine, pre / post-operative, and stroke diagnoses Monitor and manage telemetry patients, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management Administer medications, blood products, and manage IV insulin and heparin protocols Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and oversee surgical drains and chest tubes Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services Float to sister units as needed to support patient care across the hospital Document all care using EPIC and adhere to SBAR communication protocols Don’t miss this exceptional travel nursing job in Potsdam, NY!
