Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Oncology position in an acute care setting, requiring a CA RN license and strong teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 17-bed Med / Surg Oncology unit within an acute care hospitalCare for a patient population that is mostly oncology with some med / surg overflowNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 5, potentially 1 : 4 if a patient is receiving chemotherapyChemo administration is not required, but comfort caring for oncology patients is expectedUtilizes Cerner EMR systemNight shifts, 12 hours, 6 : 45pm to 7 : 15am, with four weekend shifts required in a four-week scheduleFirst to float, with floating to telemetry or other med / surg units as needed; tele ratio is 1 : 4Portable telemetry boxes are used as needed; monitor tech availableDuties include caring for oncology and med / surg patients, completing assigned documentation in Cerner, and monitoring telemetry as neededNo vent management requiredHospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7A clinical supervisor serves as charge nurse and provides break relief but does not take a patient assignmentOne nurse aide is present for 8 hours during day shiftsOrientation includes one unit-based shiftCompliance with navy scrubs is requiredHoliday coverage rotates with permanent staff; holiday time-off requests will be considered but are not guaranteedRequirements
