Responsibilities Work in a 40-bed Medical Surgical unit with a focus on neurological disorders and post-op spinal surgery patients Care provided for stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, post-op neuro and ortho surgical patients, laminectomy, spinal fusion, and bariatric cases Unit includes six step-down / telemetry beds, six bariatric beds, and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for seizure patients starting at age 5 Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 4 or 1 : 5 Use of EPIC for charting and Pyxis for medication dispensing Day shifts are 4x12 hours (7 : 00 to 19 : 30), every other weekend required May float to other Med / Surg units, ICU, and ED waiting rooms Will work with a diverse neurological and post-surgical patient population in a supportive team environment No holiday requests allowed; requests may be discussed with the manager for possible accommodation Travelers are first to float on the unit Return staff must have a 6-month separation before being eligible Proof of flu vaccination required; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing Orientation includes 8 hours of required self-reported modules Requirements Active Michigan RN license required Current BLS (AHA) certification required NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required or willingness to obtain prior to start At least 1 year of Med / Surg nursing experience preferred Experience with EPIC EMR preferred References required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620016.
