The Camp Operations Director is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of camp operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and mission-driven experience for campers, staff, and families. This role oversees the logistical, administrative, and facilities-related aspects of camp, while supporting program excellence and camper well-being. The Camp Operations Director works closely with senior leadership, seasonal staff, and community partners to create a high-quality camp environment that reflects Camp Cole’s values of inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily camp operations including scheduling, facilities, staff, and vendor management.
- Assist the entire Camp Cole Staff with the goal of increased productivity in all aspects of Camp Cole when and where appropriately needed.
- Administrative duties include but are not limited to creating and editing paperwork / forms and contracts, maintenance spreadsheets and databases, attending to partner camp needs, assisting in the general operation of camps and retreats, etc.
- Assists Executive Director and Director of Development with the creation of the overall budget and assists in overseeing it throughout the year.
Preffered Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience), preferably.5+ years of leadership experience in camp management, operations, or related industry.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.Knowledge of risk management, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Comfort with technology, scheduling systems, and operational databases.CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age, illness, disability, or life challenge) and provide necessary instruction to staff.Ability to work extended hours and weekends during the camp season when asked.Experience in problem solving and administrative roles with similar programs.Ability to professionally communicate, both orally and in writing.Ability to work independently and well within a team environment.Passion for helping others with life challenges and creating a better community.Ability to balance multiple projects and maintain calmness under pressure.
