POSITION SUMMARY
Servtech, A Roeslein Company, is seeking an Electrical Application Engineer to join our team in the energy, mining, industrial power markets, and Integrated bio-energy solutions. This individual must have the desire to perform quality work safely, be detail-oriented, and have superior customer focus. This individual must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. As an Electrical Application Engineer, you will support the design, engineering, procurement, and product life cycle management of large-scale custom manufactured industrial equipment. The Electrical Application Engineer will focus on 3 Phase Power Distribution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience using AutoCAD (Electrical AutoCAD preferred) to review and create :
Power one-line diagramsWiring diagramsCable / conduit schedulesPanel schedulesPanel LayoutsCreation of BOMsUnderstanding Conductor and raceway sizingSizing and selection of power distribution equipment including :
SwitchgearMotor control centersPanelboardsVFD panelsTransformersLighting panelsOther electrical equipmentWorking knowledge with 480 VAC to 4,160 VAC 3-phase systems and equipmentExperience with electrical equipment component vendors.Reviewing client specifications to ensure appropriate equipment is selected for the applicationExperience in laying out panel design.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.Develop applications to meet specific needs and business goals.Act as the bridge between engineering teams and end-users.Provide pre-sales and design support.Provide internal and external training sessions on Servtech UL solutions.Comfortable with Customer interaction and bridging gap between engineering and business development teamExperience with utility, industrial or data center electrical systemsKnowledge and experience with the National Electric Code for sizing and implementation of conductors, raceways, equipment clearances, and other code requirements.Support engineers and Business Development to meet project goals and deadlines.Promote a positive working environment to achieve the organization’s goals.Knowledge of UL 508A, UL 891, NEC, and related standards.Must follow training and company procedures.Must be a leader who represents the organization with the ability to be a liaison to our customers, adhere to company standards, and resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.Previous Consulting Engineer and / or post sales experience a plusMust comply with Roeslein & Servtech’s core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and the commitment to maintain respectful relationships with all employees.Performs all work in compliance with company standards, does not deviate from policies and procedures, and adheres to regulatory requirements.Safety is essential at Servtech and all safety training classes must be completed with a 100% pass rate.Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.Performs other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in application engineering, design engineering, or technical support in electrical distribution, controls, or automation.Experience with utility, industrial or data center electrical systemsMust be able to identify and resolve problems promptly.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required. Excellent organization and planning skills.Experience of electrical power systems, protective devices and control schemesAbility to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.AutoCAD drafting experience beyond a basic level is preferredExperience developing drawings for fabrication of wireway systems is preferredExperience using ETAP electrical design and study software is preferredExcellent Communication skills; both oral and written is requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills are requiredWORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions—such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods is possible. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
