A DAY IN THE LIFE
The Service Plumber Helper supports the Service Plumbers with residential and commercial plumbing services, including installation, maintenance, and repairs. This role assists with diagnosing issues, interpreting blueprints, assembling materials, and ensuring work meets code requirements. The position offers hands-on training in plumbing skills while also supporting vehicle upkeep and other assigned duties. It is an entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the plumbing trade.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Service Plumber perform service on residential and commercial plumbing systems
- Help with installing, maintaining and repairing pipes, replacing tanks and water fixtures, unclogging toilets and drains, as well as diagnosing leaks and other problems.
- Assist the Service Plumber with interpreting the blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials in residential buildings.
- Help install pipes and fixtures in residential buildings to be in accordance with all guidelines.
- Assist the Plumber with Installing supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
- Learn to assemble fittings and valves for installation and modify the lengths of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials.
- Assist the service plumber to collaborate with other construction workers, such as contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
- Train on how to choose the correct plumbing materials based on the client's budget.
- Learn to perform tests, analysis, and inspections of plumbing systems to identify problems and replacing worn parts.
- Assist with maintaining good working order of Company vehicle. Includes : refueling and servicing as necessary, reporting mechanical issues, washing, and cleaning the Company vehicle on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Work Days
Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday but must have the flexibility to work weekends, holidays and afterhours, when required.Available to work on-call rotation.Willing to work overtime, when the situation arises.Qualifications / Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalentMust have a valid driver's licenseExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBe knowledgeable or have the willingness to learn to operate an iPad.Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelinesExcellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilityAbility to work well with co-workersPhysical Requirements
