Hiring Range

The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is $70,200 / yr - 84,000 / yr. The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is Step 1 : $70,200 / yr.

Job Closing Date

Remote / Hybrid eligibility : Dependent on openings.

About the Job

As a member of the CollegeCorps staff, this position uses skills as a seasoned, experienced program professional to develop, organize and oversee the CollegeCorps recruitment processes of both host-site / and fellows. This professional is responsible to apply grant specific practices to enhance and support campus-community partnerships. Provides timelines, rubrics and resources for successful host site and fellow recruitment and collaboration. Communicates regularly and professionally with fellows, CollegeCorps staff and program stakeholders. Provides regular updates and progress reports to all constituents. Demonstrates knowledge of grants and grant management and reporting. Manages responsibilities in the following functional areas : Host-site and fellow recruitment and selection, training, orientation and weekly updates and support, works as part of the CollegeCorps program team within the Community Engagement Center (CEC), reporting directly to the Director, and working closely with the entire CollegeCorps and CEC staff to manage the CollegeCorps grant program goals and directives. This professional possesses abroad job knowledge, strong communication skills, good people management skills, and effective project monitoring, follow-through, task completion and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the management and completion of required individual fellow records and files, National and Criminal History Background checks for fellows enrolled in CollegeCorps. Meets with fellows individually to resolve questions and completion of fellow required documents. Provides training and oversight for online fellow hours tracking platform, America Learns. Supports Grant Administrator with financial management and reporting, facilities reservations, use and funding, technology use and device tracking, compliance fiscal and budgetary. Supports Grant Administrator in program activities and partnerships, data collection, and State and Federal granting communication. Supports operations from expense tracking and expenditure documentation, coordination with Campus departments, Purchasing, contracts and grants office, compliance procedures, documentation and reporting of site activity. Provides input in the development of budgets, financial and program performance reports for State and National submission.
  • Support with the management of post-award activities using knowledge of grant and contract management rules and regulation, technical expertise, and analytical skills. Monitors budget and prepares local transfer of funds and inter-location transfer of funds related to maintaining budget. Prepares corrected entries, financial journal and other documents.
  • Develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for funding which may be complex.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of human resources activities including employment, training, classification, and ensuring the completion of forms and documents related to HR and Payroll for unit / department. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes financial and HR reports.
  • Support with the logistics for fellow program activities, campus visits, and summer activities.
  • Develops and implements procedures for supply inventory and to keep equipment in good working condition.
  • Communicates regularly with fellows to maintain all required service records, including service hours. Alerts Grant Administrative Officer to irregularities or unusual changes to program reports or student problems 35 or concerns. Works closely with Program Manager and Fellow Support Coordinator to ensure all fellows needs within the Program are being addressed.
  • Supervises student employees. Participates in student staff recruitment, hiring and training. Meets with student staff individually for task and professional evaluation and development.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in data management and knowledge of CollegeCorps and or AmeriCorps compliance and program requirements and procedures. (Preferred)
  • Relevant work experience which have led to the development of the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position is required. Direct knowledge of University of California policies and procedures is preferred.
  • CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
  • Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization.
  • Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
  • Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. (Preferred)
  • Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
