About The Position

Job Title : Radiologic Technologist

Experience : 1-2 years of CT experience required

License : Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible

Certifications : BLS required

Must-Have :

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.

Description :

Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients.

May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations.

Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.

Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations.

Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.

Prepares procedure room and replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.

Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan.

Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.

Administers intravenous contrast media including utilization of power injectors.

Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction should occur.

May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure.

Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.

Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.

Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection, including shielding of patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dosage.

Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS.

Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System.

Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies.

Demonstrates consistent team member standards of excellence including open communication and a positive attitude.

Performs all documentation necessary in the medical record and within the radiology information system to support clinical functions.

May work in a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit.

May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized.

May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients.

Occasionally may lift and / or move equipment and / or patients that are in excess of 10 lbs.

Demonstrates qualities such as being self-directed, flexible, and committed to teamwork.
