Experienced Truss Designer

• Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Truss Design Manager, construction blueprints are reviewed and read for purpose of designing wood roof and floor trusses within MiTek Software.

• Key Activities

• Visualize, fulfill, and implement DBC Core Values in your daily tasks and decisions
• Design of roof and floor trusses using MiTek software and ensure designs are accurate, optimized and confirmed to standards
• Assists in the communication with customers as needed, to provide an accurate truss design
• Assists in generating and providing accurate pricing and material quantities for estimating purposes
• Assists in designing trusses for production and help generate truss placement layouts for final construction.
• Analyzes design data
• Assists design manager in his or her responsibilities
• Is willing to learn from senior designers on best job practices and design work
• Provides job-site support when requested – assisting sales department
• Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required
• Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures
• Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned
• Knowledge and Skills
• MiTek Experience
• Truss Design Experience
• Basic knowledge of floor and roof truss design process
• Must be fully committed to attention to detail in every project
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in multiple jobs simultaneously and maintain organized workflow
• Must be willing to learn new systems
• Exercise of consistent discretion and judgement in work performed
• Supervisory Responsibility
• This position has no supervisory responsibility.
• Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and includes daily use of computers, telephones, copy machines, printers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

• Physical Demands

This role is largely sedentary; however, it requires the ability to lift files or file boxes, bending or standing as needed and walking on concrete floors to and from work areas or other offices. Must be able to function on fast paced demand.

• Travel
• Occasionally the need arises to make jobsites visits, that may include out of town travel.
• Required Education and Experience
• MiTek Experience
• Fluent in English
• Preferred Education and Experience
• One to three years’ experience in truss and construction industry would be an advantage
• Experience using MiTek Sapphire software would be a major asset
