Overview

Function as a paraprofessional by overseeing and performing a variety of activities designed to maintain medical records systems at the Carson City Correctional Facility. Work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge related to the methods, practices, procedures, policies, regulations and laws governing medical record creation and use. Serves as the senior worker in the medical record department. Has regular unsupervised access and direct contact with inmates. This position is located inside the secure perimeter of a multi-level prison and the position is subject to drug and alcohol testing.
Education
Possession of an associate\'s degree in health information or medical record technology.
Experience
Certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator.
The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996.

New hires to the MDOC, along with previous MDOC employees returning after more than two years, will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) — 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on offender contact level and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
