Job Description : Warming Center Coordinator (PRN)
Reports To : Director of Operations / Operational Manager
Location : DeKalb County, GA (multiple warming center sites)
Position Type : PRN (as-needed, based on County activation)
Position Summary
Frontline Response is seeking experienced and compassionate Warming Center Coordinators to oversee the operation of warming center sites during cold weather activations. This is a PRN position, activated when DeKalb County opens warming centers due to temperatures of 35°ree;F or below.
The Warming Center Coordinator will supervise Residential Assistants, oversee daily site operations, ensure client well-being, and maintain compliance with agency and county standards. Coordinators may rotate among approximately five designated sites, including DeKalb County recreation centers and other community facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the opening, setup, operation, and closing of assigned warming center site(s).
- Supervise Residential Assistants (RAs) assigned to their site, ensuring staff accountability, professional conduct, and quality service delivery.
- Ensure the overall care, safety, and well-being of unhoused clients, fostering a supportive and respectful environment.
- Respond promptly to emergencies(medical, behavioral, or safety-related) and escalate concerns immediately to the Operational Manager.
- Monitor capacity, guest intake, and nightly activity, maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with county reporting requirements.
- Complete and submit nightly statistical reports(occupancy, incidents, services provided).
- Coordinate logistics such as meals, bedding, supplies, and transportation in collaboration with operations staff.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for staff, volunteers, and community partners during activations.
- Participate in post-activation debriefs to improve service quality and operations.
Qualifications
Education : Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field.Experience : At least 2 years of supervisory experience in human services, shelter operations, or community-based programs.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and crisis management skills.Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and solution-oriented in high-pressure situations.Excellent communication and documentation / reporting skills.Flexibility to work at multiple sites and cover shifts on evenings, overnights, and weekends.Reliable transportation.Schedule & Compensation
PRN basis– activations occur when temperatures are forecasted at 35°ree;F or below.Shifts vary by site assignment and county activation needs.Compensation : Hourly rate; commensurate with experience.
