Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities :
The Patrol Officer must be a sworn law enforcement officer meeting Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC) Police Officer Professional Standards (POPS) certification requirements. Responsibilities include conducting vehicle and foot patrols on campus, enforcing laws and regulations, serving warrants, conducting investigations, and documenting activities. The role requires knowledge of Kentucky law, the KYOPS reporting system, and federal laws. Duties vary across shifts and include emergency response, safety observation, and community engagement. The officer must be prepared to learn university-specific procedures, maintain compliance with reporting standards, and work flexible hours including holidays and weekends.
