Northrop Grumman Space Security Division (SSD) has an opening for Director Of Business Development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Dulles, VA or Gilbert AZ, or Redondo Beach, CA.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategy and Execution :
  • Develop and execute growth plans that align with Position-to-Win (PTW) strategies and Business Acquisition Process (BAP) goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, evaluate mission-area priorities, and conduct business analyses to support recommendations.
  • Pipeline Growth and P&L Accountability :
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow the division's opportunity pipeline, with full accountability to the P&L for new business awards and accountability to Div BD Director for overall pipeline growth and competitive capture rate.
  • Develop and execute a 1-3-year business development plan for the assigned mission growth area, driving market penetration and measurable success aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Influence acquisition strategies and customer requirements
  • Champion the allocation of IRAD (Internal Research and Development) funding and advocate for technology investments to deliver cutting-edge solutions for emerging customer needs.
  • Governance and Compliance :
  • Ensure all business development efforts align with Northrop Grumman and government regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Market and Competitive Insights :
  • Support competitive analyses, pricing activities, and resource allocation for targeted capture opportunities.
  • People and Relationship Management :
  • Manage a team of business development professionals, set performance goals, provide mentorship, and foster collaboration with Sector Business Development to build a high-performing team.
  • Build trust and strong partnerships with customer decision-makers and industry collaborators to sustain long-term growth.
  • Provide strategic oversight of discretionary investment projects and measure performance to track impact against business goals.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Deep familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition processes.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with background investigation in-scope and the ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance at the time of application.
  • Proven team leadership experience in program execution, proposals, or capture efforts
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in business development, program management, or engineering management.
  • Proven ability to travel up to 25% per month.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Current or recent prior experience in a Business Development, Strategy, P&L position within the Space Security market segment
  • Current DoD Special Access Program clearances
  • Experience maintaining relationships with executives, customer decision-makers, and industry partners.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams on complex business development activities.
  • Strategic planning, P&L responsibility, and investment planning experience.
  • Strong communication and briefing skills are suitable for executive audiences.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various government contract types (FFP, IDIQ, T&M).
  • The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
