Overview
IDEALFORCE has a Contract position available immediately for a Storage Engineer – Enterprise Storage Administrator to join our customer in Phoenix AZ . This is an On-Site Position. Please respond with your most up to date resume if you would like to pursue this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Storage Administration
- All duties relating to storage administration including but not limited to : design of new and existing installations, the configuration, security and maintenance of highly available enterprise data storage systems
- Skilled at proactive monitoring of the ongoing operation of storage systems and providing utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions as needed
- Observing performance on FC network and NAS attached storage systems, troubleshoot any performance problems and apply near term fixes that result in long term solutions
- Refresh data from one environment to another at the request of the application or service owner customers
- Provide input for, and develop documentation / standard operating procedures (SOP) that result in repeatable processes for installation and setup and all artifacts that support the rational; -the how and why we did it this way-
- Develop and publish team vetted storage standards and policies as needed
- Follow ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices for Change Management
- Includes multiple vendor hardware and software infrastructure
Monitoring Configuration & Maintenance
Design and maintain meaningful views, dashboards, reports, and alerts tailored to user and departmental needs.Create, update, and manage documentation templates for SOP's and knowledge transfer as required.Daily System Health & Preventative Maintenance
Perform daily health checks of the storage, network and server environment.Schedule and perform system reboots or failovers required for patching or outages.Incident & Ticket Management
Handle incoming ServiceNow tickets related to monitoring issues.Open vendor support cases ("factory tickets") as needed.Collaborate with various teams including city wide level IT groups, executive management and vendors as required.Stakeholder Engagement
Attend Teams meetings with city staff and management to promote observability services.Provide regular status updates and maintain clear communication about system health.Required Qualifications
Technical ExpertiseHands-on experience with various storage platforms.Strong understanding of storage, network, server, and application principles.Proficiency in various fiber channel technologiesProficiency in various NAS technologiesProficiency in various server technologies.Familiarity with networking concepts and technologies.Operational SkillsProven ability to perform daily system health checks and manage patching and maintenanceServiceNow experience or comparable ticketing systems, with the aptitude to escalate issues appropriately.Collaboration & CommunicationExcellent interpersonal skills; able to liaise with technical and non-technical teams.Able to document processes, facilitate knowledge sharing, and train others where needed.Preferred Qualifications
Certifications SNIA and vendor published storage certifications.Very strong fiber channel experience with Cisco MDS and Broadcom Brocade infrastructure.Experience with VMware, Microsoft and Linux server environments.Third Party Candidates :
