Role Overview

This role provides occupational health and safety expertise to one of Apex\'s valued clients, an aerospace manufacturer. Apex has partnered with this client for two decades, helping achieve occupational health and safety, ergonomic, environmental and engineering goals. The incumbent will serve as a mid–senior level Safety Specialist contractor at the client\'s San Antonio facility.

This is a full-time, onsite position. The client requires 5 days per week / 8 hours per day, with some days covering shift rollover (9am – 5pm). The current role is approved for 6 months, with potential extension based on project needs and budget alignment. The incumbent will execute a majority of safety projects from start to finish, combining workplace safety and risk assessment with program effectiveness evaluations and continuous improvement support. The role may include project management responsibilities as needed. Candidates should be energetic self-starters who can work independently and deliver within budget and timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive occupational safety consulting services to clients, including shop floor observations, risk assessment of exposures, and development of mitigation options.
• Coordinate and execute safety projects with client relationship managers within organizational procedures and standards.
• Collaborate with the external customer to implement agreed service plans, monitor progress, and report status. Engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders to maintain project velocity.
• Advise the customer on occupational safety issues.
• Provide input to client relationship managers or business development on potential new EHS projects.

Qualifications

Technical topics include but are not limited to safety program elements such as shop floor hazard identification, job safety analysis, accident investigations, machine guarding, slip / trip / fall prevention, lockout / tagout, confined space, PPE, powered industrial trucks, contractor safety, and OSHA regulations.
