Job Title : Scrum Master / Project Manager

Location : Chicago, IL, 60606 (Hybrid)

Duration : 12+ Months

Position Overview :

  • We are seeking a Scrum Master / Technical Project Manager with strong Agile delivery skills and deep understanding of modern data engineering practices on AWS. The role combines Agile facilitation with technical project management, ensuring smooth delivery of data solutions across trading, risk, and compliance initiatives in the Finance & Capital Markets domain.

Key Responsibilities :

Agile Delivery & Project Management

  • Lead multiple Scrum teams delivering data engineering and analytics solutions.
  • Plan, track, and report progress using Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, throughput).
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issue resolution across data engineering streams.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and drive continuous improvement.

    • Technical Oversight

  • Collaborate with Data Architects and Engineers to ensure alignment with AWS-based modern data platform designs.
  • Oversee delivery of pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Python, Parquet, Iceberg, and Medallion Architecture.
  • Ensure solutions align with data governance, security, and compliance standards in finance.
  • Guide teams on best practices for data lakehouse implementation on AWS (S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lake Formation, Kinesis).

    • Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders (trading, risk, compliance) and technical teams.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical stories / epics.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring delivery of high-quality, regulatory-compliant solutions.

    • Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master and / or Technical Project Manager in data engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud platform and modern data engineering practices.
  • Understanding of streaming and batch data architectures with Spark, Kafka, and Python.
  • Familiarity with Parquet, Iceberg, and Medallion Architecture in lakehouse environments.
  • Hands-on exposure to Finance & Capital Markets projects (market data, risk analytics, compliance).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

    • Preferred

  • Certifications : CSM, PSM I / II, PMP, SAFe Scrum Master.
  • Experience in regulatory reporting, risk platforms, or trading system data flows.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, DBT as part of modern data stack.
  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and security frameworks.
