What to Expect (Job Responsibilities) :

  • Evaluate and handle all underwriting aspects of formal and informal life insurance applications
  • Determine acceptance, modification, or decline of risk based on medical history, occupational hazards, and financial background
  • Provide efficient service to third-party firms and advisors
  • Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to customers and facilitate business placements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather necessary information for decision-making and risk selection

    • What is Required (Qualifications) :

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of life insurance underwriting experience
  • Minimum established life insurance underwriting authority limit of $3 million
  • 3+ years of expert knowledge of risk selection aspects (medical, non-medical, financial)
  • 3+ years of knowledge of underwriting concepts, best practices, and procedures

    • How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications) :

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience with up to $5M life approval limit
  • Completion of industry exams (e.g., FLMI, FALU, CLU, ChFC)
  • Experience in term and permanent life insurance underwriting
  • Background in third-party distribution or banks
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
