Job Title : Mechanical Designer (CREO / Windchill)

Location : Fridley, MN (Hybrid Remote / In-Office as Needed)

Pay Rate : $33 / hr

Type : Long-Term Contract (Potential for Full-Time Conversion)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and engineering details. This role requires advanced proficiency with CREO 7 (or higher) and Windchill, strong technical design expertise, and the ability to work independently while also mentoring design staff.

Key Details

Location : Fridley, MN (Hybrid schedule on-site as business needs require)

Schedule : MondayFriday, 40 hours per week (flexible start / end times)

Contract Type : Long-term contract with strong potential for conversion to full-time

Interview Process : 1-hour Zoom interview with hiring manager

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required (Associates or Bachelors in Engineering preferred)

810 years of mechanical design experience strongly preferred

58 years of CREO 7 (or higher) schematic / cabling experience required

Experience with Windchill required

Proficiency with Windchill PLM

Strong understanding of design techniques, blueprint reading, and engineering principles

Leadership and mentoring skills with strong communication abilities

Responsibilities

Develop, review, and approve design drawings and engineering specifications for mechanical equipment using CREO 7

Retrieve and manage change notices from lead designers while supporting multiple concurrent projects

Assign material identifiers and approve technical views (schematic, orthographic, angled, etc.)

Collaborate with design teams and provide mentoring to resolve design or technical issues

Modify and revise drawings for manufacturability and compliance with requirements

Analyze sketches, data, and project requirements to ensure optimal component design

Serve as a subject matter expert for clients and team members, especially regarding system installation
