Fabrication Shop in Catoosa seeking Plasma Table Operators

Job Summary

The Voortman Operator is responsible for operating an 8-axis plasma cutting and processing robot to prepare structural materials for fabrication. This role requires precision, technical ability, and the ability to follow specifications to ensure high-quality results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate an 8-axis Voortman plasma robot using both pedestal-style console and handheld remotes
  • Interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to determine processing requirements
  • Make accurate decisions to ensure materials are processed to meet job specifications
  • Measure and inspect parts using tape measures, dial calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers
  • Remove slag and other debris using grinders, chatter guns, and hand files
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move, load, and position materials
  • Perform minor fabrication tasks including welding, cutting, torching, and drilling as needed for fit-up or maintenance
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and comply with all safety rules and procedures

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of CNC drill operation experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication processes
  • Effective communication skills, especially when providing technical feedback or support
  • High level of organization and attention to detail; must manage multiple jobs and material flow
  • Willingness to work overtime and support production demands as needed

    • Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and reach for extended periods
  • Work conditions may include high noise levels, working at heights, confined spaces, congested areas, and rotating shifts
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required
