The role you'll contribute :
The Unit Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service on the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk is responsible for surveying the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) for unprocessed orders and assembling / maintaining the medical records of all patients on the nursing unit.
The value you'll bring to the team :
Prepares and maintains patients medical records from admission through discharge to organization, completeness and accuracy of the records system for the unit.
Projects a positive, friendly and helpful demeanor while working with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Proactively meets and greets visitors to the unit. Responsible for maintaining an organized, clutter-free, welcoming environment in the nursing station.
Responsible for environmental rounds every 2 hours. Environmental rounds include but are not limited to : hallways are free of clutter, equipment is plugged in, nursing alcoves are free of clutter with chairs tucked in, etc.
Provides Customer Service rounds, responds to patient requests within scope of practice (i.e. : Ice, Blankets, pillows and room temperature). When in a patient room, performs hourly round and marks the white board.
Answers the intercom by acknowledging patient by name and responding to the patient's bedside to identify the patient request when needed. Responds to requests within scope of practice (i.e. : ice, blankets, pillows, room temperature).
Assists with battery changes and lead placement of telemetry.
Assists with new patient room set up / orientation. Assists with patient transport needs.
Assists with delivery and retrieval of patient trays.
Serves as a resource for medical and nursing staff, regarding order entry process.
Assures accurate location of patients within the computer. Removes patients from the computer promptly upon discharge.
Records verification of physician consults to include time / date and personal information called.
Responsible for reconciliation of unit equipment, quality logs, and computer 24 / 7 logs.
Places repair requests using the web-based request form. Follows-up on outstanding requests.
Maintains all unit supplies in an organized manner. Performs inventories and requisitions necessary supplies for nursing unit including office supplies, forms and non-stock patient care supplies within established par levels. Keeps the department manager informed of back orders.

Minimum qualifications :
High School graduate or equivalent
Healthcare experience preferred
BLS required
