Caregivers

Shift Type : Full time and Part-Time

Role : Caregivers provide non - medical paraprofessional services to the agency ’s home care clients, as

assessed in the care plan and in compliance with the client ’s Service Agreement.

Scope of Position : Reports to Homewatch Caregiv ers Caregiver Manager / Director. Position is

deemed a safety - sensitive position, in which job performance can affect the safety of employee and

others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :

1. Experience as a caregiver in a home care setting, Assisted Living / Memory care, Skilled

Nursing / Rehab ilitation facility or hospital.

2. Must meet hiring criteria as defined in the agency ’s minimum standards, to include eligibility

to pass 50 state national background check, Arizona DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance

Card, First Aid / CPR certification, and TB Surveillance Screening.

3. Must practice good hygiene and maintain a positive appearance.

4. Must be able to function with mini mal supervision , accepting personal responsibility for

maintaining a professional relationship with the client.

5. Must accept responsibility for maintaining skills and learning on an ong oing basis, as well as

adhering to agency policies.

6. Does not administer medication or perform any procedures requiring the knowledge or skills

of a licensed nurse or medical provider. Performs medication reminders as per Plan of Care

instructions.

7. Must hav e excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.

8. Must be able to practice and utilize proper body mechanics with client transfers and mobility

requirements.

9. Must be able to understand and support safe work practices i n promotion of accident

prevention and company safety program.

10. Proficient in light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, meal preparation / cooking, washing

dishes, and vacuuming.

11. Must be able to identify client change of condition and report all chan ges / incidents to

Homewatch CareGivers, in addition to initiation of emergency procedures, as necessary.

12. Must pass all background screening with satisfactory results for initial hire and annually

thereafter; to include 50 state background check and Arizona DPS Level 1 Fingerprint

Clearance Card, in addition to maintaining all required credentials to include : CPR and First -

Aid certifications, in addition to annual TB Surveillance Screening.

Major Responsibilities :

1. Responsible for assi sting the agency ’s clients with their personal care needs in accordance

with the care plan and qualifications (CCG / CAN / Non - Certified CG).

2. Responsible for assisting clients with activities of daily living in a safe and beneficial

manner.

3. M ust possess effective communication skills.

4. Must be able to read and comprehend instructions in accordance with the client ’s Plan of

Care.

5. Must understand and comply with company safety and infection control policies and

procedures.

6. Monitoring and identification of client change of condition and incidents with reporting of all

changes to Homewatch CareGivers.

Physical Qualifications :

1. Able to work an average of 20 - 40 hours per week.

2. Ability to work assigned shifts with ability to always remain awake and alert.

3. Able to bend, climb, stoop, and stand an average of 5 hours per day.

4. Able to lift 20 - 30 pounds.

5. Ability to use tools necessary for job.
