High Voltage Superintendent
SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America.
The HV Superintendent is responsible for overseeing HV construction resulting in safe and successful project execution.
Position Responsibilities and Duties :
- Lead and manage all phases of high voltage substation construction projects, including greenfield builds, brownfield upgrades, and maintenance efforts.
- Ensure compliance with project plans, schedules, budgets, and substation-specific performance metrics.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for field execution of substation scopescoordinating with engineering, procurement, utilities, and subcontractors.
- Supervise site crews during installation of substation components including transformers, breakers, control buildings, protection and control systems, buswork, grounding grids, and SCADA systems.
- Oversee quality assurance / quality control (QA / QC) activities to ensure substation installations meet applicable standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct detailed site inspections and ensure conformance with NESC, IEEE, and utility standards.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to SOLV's safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and NFPA 70E compliance for energized substation environments.
- Mentor and develop assistant superintendents, foremen, and craft-level personnel in substation operations, safety procedures, and technical best practices.
- Manage subcontractor performance and material logistics for critical substation equipment delivery and installation.
- Maintain documentation, redlines, and commissioning readiness in coordination with engineering and startup teams.
- Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance specific to substation construction and operations.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements :
57 years of direct experience in substation construction, commissioning, or maintenance (69kV500kV preferred)Licensed Journeyman Electrician or equivalent preferredStrong working knowledge of utility-grade substation equipment and protection / control systemsFamiliarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NFPA 70E)OSHA 30 certification required; First Aid / CPR requiredProven experience leading substation crews and managing high-risk energized environmentsAbility to travel and work on active substation sites in various regionsStrong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skillsPhysical Demands and Environmental Conditions :

Compensation Range : $107,757.00 - $140,084.00
