Job Title : Supervisor
Department : Production
Reports to : Production Manager
Reporting to this position : Process Leaders
Summary :
Assure that daily operations meet or exceed productivity indicators for manufacturing plastic compounds in accordance with environmental, health and safety, quality, and quantity to meet customer specifications / standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and quality standards
- Plan, assign and supervise work of Process Leaders and Process Operators to ensure production of quality products
- Implement policies and procedures
- Recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
- Generate reports and enter into system
- Ensure effective employee relations
- Support continuous improvement efforts in all areas of organization including quality and environmental, health and safety
- Provide employee coaching and development
- Assist in resolving employee issues through problem resolution
- Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas
- Monitor departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to manager
- Maintain proper inventory levels
- Assist with production scheduling and testing
- Coordinate vacation and time off for Process Leaders and Process Operators
- Track absenteeism and time-keeping
- Initiate or suggest ideas for employee motivation
- Perform production member activities as needed
- Other duties as assigned

(a). can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes;
(b). perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others;
(c). respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
Qualifications :
Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred plus 5-7 years’ supervisory / leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; compounding experience a plus. Experience may substitute for education requirement.Strong mechanical / electrical background.Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities.Computer proficiency.Strong focus on follow-up and attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.Ability to travel as needed.Physical Demands and Work Environment : The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
