Job Summary

The Facilities Manager 1 within the Clinical Engineering Department provides strategic and operational leadership for the lifecycle management of medical equipment across the UC Davis Health System. This role oversees the planning, procurement, and deployment of both capital and non-capital equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. The Facilities Manager partners with clinical and administrative departments as well as external vendors to support patient care through reliable equipment availability and performance. By driving process improvements, optimizing vendor relationships, and strengthening cross-departmental collaboration, this leader plays a critical role in advancing efficiency, innovation, and the overall quality of healthcare delivery.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position

• Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies / procedures, and / or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant fields and / or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
• 3 years' experience in managing or supervising personnel.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in managing shipping and receiving functions.
• Procurement experience Capital / non-capital equipment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Awareness of inventory control and vendor management processes.
• Awareness of shipping and receiving functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Lawson programs on a PC is required.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics in a healthcare environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for medical equipment and recalls.

Department Overview

The Clinical Engineering Department provides a broad scope of services including : medical equipment planning, pre-purchase product evaluation, integration with IT systems, installation, and repair and maintenance services to the UC Davis Health (UCDH), including its primary care network (PCN) clinics, and Shriners Hospital for Children, Northern California. In addition to repair and maintenance on most medical devices, we also provide services to the following specialty areas : medical imaging, radiation therapy, respiratory therapy, dialysis, anesthesiology, operating room, IT integration with medical devices, and ICU equipment.
