As a Sr. Calibration Engineer you will be responsible for leading the calibration, validation and maintenance of spectrometric instrumentation in a laboratory setting. This role ensures that all spectrometers and related analytical equipment meet stringent accuracy and compliance standards. You will also mentor junior staff, develop calibration protocols, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and refine calibration procedures for various types of spectrometers (e.g. spectroradiometer, monochromator and photometers).
- Perform high-precision calibrations and verifications for all Ocean Optics calibration labs using traceable standards and reference materials.
- Maintain standard – coordinate activities for master standard and selection of approved standards for all Ocean Optics calibration labs.
- Analyze calibration data, identify trends, and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Maintain detailed calibration records in compliance with ISO / IEC 17025, GMP, or other relevant standards.
- Collaborate with Engineering, QA, and manufacturing teams to ensure instrument readiness and reliability.
- Lead internal audits and support external regulatory inspections.
- Train and mentor calibration technicians and junior engineers.
- Evaluate and recommend new calibration tools, software, and methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices. ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
- Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in calibration engineering, with a focus on spectrometric instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of metrology principles, uncertainty analysis, radiometry, colorimetry and calibration standards.
- Proficiency in using calibration software and data acquisition systems, forward looking to AI apps,.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO / IEC 17025)
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Other duties as assigned. Preferred Skills
- Experience with automated calibration systems.
- Knowledge of inline process monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with electro-optical sensor testing and validation.
