Probate Auditor

Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Probate Auditor. A Probate Auditor is responsible for but, not limited to, reviewing accounts, inventories, bonds, and other documents related to financial interests of estates. Work is performed under the direction of the Presiding Probate Judge.

Primary Functions

• Maintaining accounts and conducting financial research by ensuring that accounts are held for appropriate amount of time as required by law, ensuring accounts are accurate, resolving inventory and accounting mistakes, and auditing accounts for numerical correctness.
• Reviewing verifications from banks, reviewing vouchers, and investigating for misappropriation of funds.
• Providing legal assistance by maintaining knowledge of Texas Estates Code, and initiating show cause proceedings in the case of misappropriation of guardianship or estate funds, late filings or non-compliance with the law.
• Performing administrative duties by preparing correspondence, reports, and responding to transcript requests.
• Performs other duties as required.
