The System Engineer, Architect (SE-Arc) is responsible for the administration, design, management, and planning of Data Network and / or Data Center technologies. Operating with minimal supervision, the SE-Arc works closely with the Data Center Manager to ensure comprehensive system maintenance and high standards in data and system security, as well as executing backup and recovery procedures. The SE-Arc is tasked with capacity planning and system monitoring across the infrastructure and also provides regular environmental condition reports. This role requires expertise in IT infrastructure, change management methodologies, and data center mechanical and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve as the primary administrator for a specific technology in the Data Center.
- Oversee the design, management, and planning for Data Network and / or Data Center.
- Develop and maintain security, backup, recovery, and maintenance procedures.
- Conduct capacity planning and monitor system infrastructure.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, storage growth, and refresh cycles.
- Follow and assist in the development of security protocols and resolution of security events.
- Update and create procedural documentation.
Requirements
Technical Requirements :
Expert Knowledge :
- Windows Server, Networking, and Storage best practices.
- Cisco Networking best practices.
- Data Center monitoring tools such as SCCM, SolarWinds, NetScout, etc.
- IT infrastructure and change management methodologies.
- Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure within a Data Center.
Competencies :
- Racking and organized cable management of various equipment (SUN, DELL, IBM, Blade technology, Cisco).
- Data Center environment management.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Strong attention to detail and dependability.
- Data Networking Focus (if applicable) :
- Expert design-level experience with Cisco switches, routers, and access points.
- Ability to troubleshoot network layers and components.
- Experience with Cisco DNA, ISE, and Prime.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP / IP protocols, DHCP, DNS technologies, and LAN / WAN topologies.
Educational Requirements :
- Minimum : High School Diploma or GED, A.A or A.S, or equivalent certifications with 10 years of experience.
- Preferred : B.S. or B.A. in a related field with specific certifications and 9 years of related experience.
Experience Requirements :
- 10 years of related experience without a degree, or 9 years with a degree and certifications.
- Proven experience leading teams or projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
- Experience in designing systems at the Enterprise level.
