Job Description : About the Team

The Cloud Software Engineering Team builds cloud-native apps, automated workflows, and scalable services that drive efficiency, reduce risk, and unlock insights across SWIB. By delivering secure, extensible, and maintain solutions, we strengthen and protect SWIB's investment management mandate. We embed AI responsibly, design elegant, durable solutions, and fester a culture of collaboration, shared ownership, and thoughtful experimentation.

Position Overview

We're looking for an intern who loves to explore, experiment, and build. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to prototype creative solutions across APIs, automation, UIs, and AL-enabled workflows - all in the cloud. This internship is designed for engineers who want to innovate while learning how to deliver solutions that are scalable, maintainable, secure, and safe. You'll work with a supportive team that values creativity, problem solving, and thoughtful deisgn, while gaining exposure to the technologies and practtives that power real-world systems.

Essential activities :

  • Prototype and test new approaches to automation, APIs, front-end interfaces, and AI workflows.
  • Explore how AI can be embedded responsibly into software systems.
  • Build proofs-of-concept in Python that can evolve into production-ready solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teammates, sharing insights and discoveries.

The Ideal candidate :

  • Ability to work in Madison, WI for an approximate 10-week period, beginning Summer of 2026.
  • Currently pursuring a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields.
  • Strong foundation in Python and exposure to databases (SQL / NoSQL).
  • Curiosity about cloud platforms and AI, with a drive to learn hands-on.
  • Ability to design solutions that are not just functional, but also scalable, maintain, secure and safe.
  • A track record of building projects that demonstrate creativity and thoughtful engineering.
  • Clear communication skills and collaborative mindset.
